i seem to remember when drilling casehardened surfaces gunsmiths have a
gadget that uses a carbon battery rod and a car battery to spot anneal
rifle actions to drill sight mounting holes.i would guess you could do
the same thing with a dc setting on a welder with a carbon electrode.then
you can drill the hole.i woild suggest using a cobalt drill bit.mike
