I never change oil without changing filter - in any engine - and you are
sure correct about gasket - I know a fellow who lost engine in deuce because
oil filter gasket failed.
I also place screen half of oil-bath air cleaner in bucket of kerosene to
soak while all the other stuff is being done. Then let it sit and drain an
hour or so before reinstalling.
Long screwdriver and kerosene soaked rag do a good job cleaning out oil
filter canister.
Do not forget to grease clutch and brake rods.

Not always correct; but never in doubt

Tom,
I'd definitely put in a new oil-filter-element during my oil change. They
are cheap $7-12.00. Also use a fresh gasket for the top of the canister.
I would swab the canister out with clean rags/and/or use a shop-vac.
Also, change the oil in the air-cleaner element, as oil is cheap and looks
can be deceiving....
By the way, I have a lot of parts in stock if you need anything!
Regards,
Bill
