Onstar is a cell-phone based technology. Lojack is based on a direct
low-power uhf and vhf system, which is interactive, ie must be turned on
after a reported theft, then monitored by a police agency, and triangulated.
The system that is probably being referred to is a GPS system, used more for
tactical vehicle accountability, and probably, if it exists at all, is an
option that is manually activated at the vehicle itself. But I could be
wrong. apb
