DAVID & DONNA,
Number of years ago I had what I thought was a vapor lock on my M37.
Two other club members diagnosed it as vapor lock as well. Engine would
start up fine, run great anywhere from ten to twenty minutes, then die
from lack of fuel. Removed the pump to carb line, sure enough it was
dry. Tried the wooden clothes line clips on the fuel pump to carburetor,
wrapped the line in a length of foam insulation -- engine still cut out.
Finally I got out from under the hood and got under the frame. The
metal fuel line running down the left frame had been bent once or twice,
then straightened once or twice, and there was a small crack in the bend.
Fuel line had been sucking air in through the crack, thus the carb was
running out of fuel and not a vapor lock.
Cut out a good foot of the metal fuel line and replaced it with rubber
hose.
Just somethin' you might wanna' check out.
