You have, it seems gotten 1/2 right answers so far.
Yes the can is 1951.
No it is not May.

5 is the capacity in gallons
20 is the capacity in litres.
you will find cans with 5.1, 5.5, 5.2 etc (there are no 5.29 as it is not a date).
