You can get an electronic siren (110 dB at 100 feet) such as a Federal
Signal, Signal-Stat, etc from a police/fire supplier. (See Gall's website:
www.galls.com ) They usually have an audio input to allow the crew, while
out of the vehicle, to monitor the radio. Also a hand mic for PA function.
They use one or two weatherproof 100 watt speakers. Loud as a mo-fo, as we
say in New York City.

Subject: [MV] 24 Volt Amplifier and speakers?
I've got a wild hair to add a set of external speakers and an amp to
the my Ferret. I've sat in traffic one too many times with some git
in his car who has far too much Bass for his own good. So, I figure a
bit of treble played from something more imposing than an Honda
Prelude is in order. Plus, it'd be useful for parades. I figure a bit
of Bagpipe music would be in order :-). Perhaps the Jolly Beggar Man,
Kalabakan, The Black Bear or The 24th Guards Brigade at Anzio.
Mind you I'm not looking for super audio quality but I don't want the
pipes to sound any more like a wailing cat than they have too.
Can anyone recommend a compact 24 volt amp and speakers with an audio
input? A PA function (hand Mic) would be useful as well. It'd need to
be small as there just isn't much room in the Ferret. Something
Military looking (or even military) would be ideal.
