Eric,
No over heating without the thermostat
probably overheting if thermostat fails...
I reccomend you that have the radiator to a shop to
check it, we always find something there...
I think that the spring inside the hose was for
give strengt to it, now you can find a hoses very
strong, it will be good to replace it
My willys does not have any thermostat when I buy it
and I never get one, now I am thinking, that is why I
need to take more time for warming the engine in the
mornings...
but I preffer that at the posibility of obstructing
the water flow
it is only a personal belief,
I remember that I was triying to get some advice of a
design engineer of water pumps to ugrade the 193?
design of the willys water pump, when I find a used
fan with six blades and the blades has more angle also
and they where bigger than the fan of the jeep so I
replace the original fan with this and I only have to
cut some kind of "washer" to fit it in the willys
water pump configuration and grind about a 1/4" of the
diameter (I did this with the engine runing, be
carefull)
The fan was from a 1960 something ford 200 V8
it has the 260 engine
with this improvement all my over heating issues where
gone
hope this helps. enjoy working in your jeep!
some times is more fun doing ourself
