you are all pretty close....The .45 auto was not created in 1911.. There was
no such thing as a 1911 A1B1..It was a 1911 ..and the modified version was a
1911A1.
BUT...the 1911 was not the pistol developed for the Boer War...it was the
model 1905. It was the .45 cartridge that was developed for the stopping
power - to stop the Boers.!! Not a 1911 pistol...The 1911 came later...after
they got the bugs out of the 1905. The 1905 Pistol looked like a large
Model 1902 Pocket Model 32 or 380. Too bad this is on a pc..I could show
you all how the 1911 holster was developed..and how it works... The holster
is not just to hold the gun..it also has a very unique use...and, I will
wager not more that a guy or 2 out there knows what that is... Gene
