VERY IMPORTANT

VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT

BEFORE THIS TRUCK IS MOVED -- BEFORE THIS TRUCK IS STARTED

Crawl under it -- cut weeds drag thorny vines out of the way

But VERY IMPORTANT BEFORE THIS TRUCK IS STARTED =- MOVED IN ANY WAY

Find the transmission - there are two plugs in the bottom, one says water,
the other says oil, loosen both (one at a time) until something runs out -
if you get water out of water plug and oil out of oil plug this is great.
Transmission is probably ok.

If you get any water out of oil plug or oil out of water plug -- if you (or
anyone) has started the truck, or moved in while this condition existed
there is an excellent change transmission is ruined - terminal

What often happens is these trucks will get some age on them and the owners
will not use anti-freeze and when weather turns cold just open drains on
block and radiator and walk away - the transmission is cooled by a water
radiator inside transmission, it freezes, bursts, and lets water into
transmission and this transmission although it is an excellent transmission
will quickly die a horrible death if moved with water in it.

If it has been started recently you may find a mix of water and oil behind
each plug and this is NOT good.

And they are very expensive to replace and I only know of one place that can
repair them and it is also expensive

Subject: [MV] M211 help

Hello everyone,
I have been a long time reader but haven't
participated on the list in
well over a year. I am in need of some advice, I recently found a 1954 M211
that I am planning
on adopting. It's a project for sure and I would like to know if anyone can
ppoint out things I should
look for or expect in a vehicle of this type. It has long been sitting in a
city yard and uncovered so
the cab and cab interior have seen better days but the truck does run,
unsure about if it will move
yet. Any advice anyone can provide would be great. I have already restored a
M37 and after selling
it this past June I am now ready for a new MV project.

Thanks,
