I think most of the efficiency gains are a result of low resistance spark
plug wires. Not the capacitors on the top of the plugs.

All they would do is make your plugs the equivalent of the "air gap" spark
plugs you see offered now and again. I worked eight years for an
electronics company that made some good products and some absolutely
dreadful junk. We looked at the capacitance network spark plug wires and
decided that was not the way to go. If you have enough coil, and the spark
plug wires can handle it, widening the gap increases the breakover voltage
from center electrode to ground. Thus, a hotter spark. The "Nology Spark
Plug wires" folks are saying their plug wires increase "spark power" up to
300 times. Figure that one out. Its a wonder the cars do not catch fire.
