I've converted industrial alternators into welders that would load a 10HP
gas motor enough for the governor to open the throttle.
The same setup under the hood of my 1972 IHC Scout with a 345 hardly makes
a dent in engine RPM (idle, ~8-900). I would be very surprised if it
didn't work.
