Several years back I was making all the sales that were taking place at Ft.
Campbell, Ky. I began to see vehicles show up at sale with big saw cuts
across tires in such a manner they could not be repaired, sometimes all the
tires on a truck would have these cuts.
Here is what I was told by people at DRMO
These trucks had been to Kuwait, or had been mixed with trucks that had
been. U S Army got tires from suppliers outside USA and they did not have
markings that indicate they met same standards as tires made in USA.
Therefore they could not sell the tires for use on highways, they took a
power saw and made the cuts. They said that USA made tires have an imprint
in sidewall that tells in code age of tire, etc.

Subject: [MV] Legality of MV tires
Can anyone give me any documentation that states the legality of MV
tires so that when I go to get my truck inspected I have something to
prove to the inspection station that it is legal? I am in NY if that
matters any.... I just don't want any headaches when I get there.
