Hi Bill...
I didn't see any replies, so I thought I'd throw in a few ideas.
I'm assuming this is with your deuce.
If you sprayed ether in, and it fired up momentarily, that tells me it
is not getting fuel for some reason. Everything else--except fuel--is
working if it fires up on ether.
Loosen one of the injector feed lines that go from the injector pump
(where all the diesel lines attach in a circle) to one of the
cylinders, and then crank the motor. Does diesel squirt out from the
loosened fitting? If so, you're getting fuel to the cylinders. If
not, your injector pump could be bad.
Replace the fuel line and tighten the fitting. Now let's check one
other thing.
Take the fuel line off the pump right at the fuel tank, and turn on
the accessory power switch and see if diesel pumps out. If it does,
then your lift pump is working. If it does not, check the fuse under
the sender / pump cap and replace if blown and try again.
Let us know and we'll go further if needed.
By the way, go VERY easy on the ether with any diesel engine. It is
OK to use ether for starting, but too much can damage the engine.
Good luck!
