Hi Bruce
You are OK since GM states in their manual for these engines that you
should never run 10W40 under any circumstances. This repeated in the
manual with the warning that engine warrantee will be void. GM
recommends 15W40 or 10W30 Diesel rated oil. The Army TM recommends
either straight 30W or 10W30 Diesel rated oil. So you are fine with
30W, 10W30, or 15W40 depending on ambient temps the truck will see.

Subject: [MV] CUCV M1008 oil question
Ok guys, here's your chance for a laugh. I went down to napa and asked
for 2 gals of 10w40,
The guy said ok and loaded them into some bags. Came home, drained the
oil, changed the filter
and primed it, started to put the remainder of oil in and then that's
when I noticed that it was all
10W30.
I figure it wont hurt to run on this for a while, but how soon should I
change oil again?
Thanks,
Bruce MVPA 23824
