Haven't seen anyone give you an answer so here's my take. The output shaft of the THM 700R4 is smaller in diameter than the same piece on the THM 400 - - so you need the input gear for the NP 208 T-Case that meshes with the 700R4 - - or a 208 from back of a 700. You will also need the T-Case adapter for a 700 as its rear is different than the 400's. I've done this twice in M-1009's - - you won't believe the difference in driveability and economy! One last point - - start with an '89 or newer 700(or get a Trans shop to give you a good warranty) and get them to rig it to shift W/O any electricity hooked to it(easy and cheap for a knowledgeable shop to do) and you're good to go. The civilian 6.2 Blazers had this trans/t-case setup during the same years so shouldn't be too hard to find. Don't think I'd recommend this setup for the M-1008 series truck due to the increased demands placed on the trans by the increased GVW (which why the 400 in this series - - and for commonality of power train - - the 400 in th
e M-1009's). Hope this helps! Robert Anderson 3/8
