Richard this most definitely can be done in-frame. I
did a rebuild my my deuce engine without ever taking the block out of the truck. It's really very easy. Some pointers are on our web site
http://www.gmmvc.org.
I have some extra parts from that work that you'll need, which I'd love to get rid of . COntact me off line for parts list and prices.
