I am chasing a nagging problem with an M813 5T truck. The power
steering pump is leaking ATF (that's what it's supposed to run, right?)
out the vent cap. Not fast, mind you. Just fast enough to leave a mess
on the fender and cause consternation. Steers great. Possible solutions are:
1. Lengthen the tube out of the reservoir to the vent filter, thereby
keeping the liquid that is sloshing around, down in the reservoir.
2. Put a new filter on, in case that one is so free that it allows too
much ATF to come out.
3. Change the working fluid to something more viscous (friends run 30 wt
motor oil in there. Works fine for years, they say)
Anyone else have this problem and/or know a fix? Thanks. Jim
