It's not just the type of fuel that can be a problem.
In 1987 one of my summer college helpers was given a 5 gallon can of diesel
fuel and told to put it in the Lincoln welding machine. He came back a few
minutes later and said he couldn't get it all in. Confused, I went to
investigate. Despite the huge fuel cap on the top of the machine, he opened
the side panel, removed the oil filler cap and poured away. Needless to say
some oil was changed and some butt was chewed. Never under estimate
anyone's ability to screw up (that's my code I now live by. Is that why
people say I'm "pessimistic"?).
