Folks
I put a used radiator into my M1009 CUCV. I went on A test drive today and
drove it about 5 miles and let it idle for about 20 minutes. I noticed while
checking my work that it seemed that the thermostat did not open. the engine
was not abnormally hot, but it seemed strange that nothing opened. The
radiator came out of a Suburban and is about an inch thicker then the CUCVs
was. so IM sure it will keep it cooler. the reason I changed out the old
radiator is that it was leaking tranny fluid into the radiator, what a mess.
IM hoping to run just water in it for a day or 2 and hopefully clean out the
block of all the nasty stuff from the leaky radiator.
I guess that my question is, can you buy the thermostat at any parts store?
or is it some special Military design?
Thanks in advance!
