I haul equipment all the time and I feel the M35 bed is not very good for
that. It is great for "cargo", but if you want to haul a lot of heavy
equipment you might be better off removing you military bed and fabbing up a
flat bed with a good rail all the around with pockets in it for hooking
chains and straps. The stock M35 bed is held on with only a couple of bolts
and can easily be removed and re-installed. When I converted my truck to a
dump I used a 6" X 1/4" angle iron frame that I sat the bed onto. It was my
plan to have a nice bed with the troops seats and canvas that I would only
put on it for shows and parades. I planned to keep a flat bed on it the
rest of time. Of course I have yet to get around it that.

Crawl under some equipment trailer and see how different they are compaired
to the deuce. I think the biggest thing is tie down points. I lifted my
bed off one day to move a job trailer and noticed the bed tended to bow in
from the pressure of the chains I had it rigged with. I think if you tried
to attacted any binder to the under side of the bed and pull it tight to a
load it would bend the bed sides.

Just my 2 cents worth,
Joe Trapp
