AND!!!!! the released hydrogen is absorbed into the steel and will
cause "hydrogen embrittlement". So just think again about what parts
you have treated in this way.
Nothing to do with steering or brakes I would hope?

Or for that matter wheel nuts, seat and seat belt mountings, drive
shaft flange bolts and nuts etc.................?

My experience is that any acid treatment is a bad idea unless done
under controlled condtions. Which is not practical for most of us.

I also note that sprind steel hates acid, you end up with honeycomb.
