I am sending this to both you and the group but haven't been able to post to
the group for quite some time and just haven't had the time to find out why.

When moving last year (287 miles each way) I ran into a lot of rain and had
to do something as one wiper motor was broken and the blades just didn't
seem to help much either.

I have used both "Rain-X" and the other product by the same company which
works on the inside for fogging up. I don't recall the name of this product
but it is sold at any place which sells "Rain-X". Both products worked
wonderfully and got me through the storms. I did the side windows also.
And, my duece has no heater ... it's finally on order and should be here any
day ... I hope, I hope, I hope ...!!! <grin>

Something else that I had to do that seemed to help some was to take some
"Windex" or other glass cleaner to clean the windows of road grime
(technical term?). I also used some vinegar and water to clean the wiper
blades as they seem to also get this grimy film on them. The wipers worked
better then also. I have no idea what effect may ultimately occur to the
wiper blades with the vinegar solution but it hasn't seemed to hurt mine
yet.

Another suggestion that I saw was to use marine wipers. Yes these are
usually stainless steel, remember not 100% stainless and will eventually
rust but not nearly as quickly as the standard product. They work well on
boats but even then without cleaning the windshield and wiper blades
regularly, these will also streak. I am very experienced with the use of
these having worked on 32' and smaller police patrol boats on the Chesapeake
Bay for almost 25 years in every kind of weather conditions available to
that area.

The short and sweet Just before driving in the rain:

1) Clean the windshield AND wiper blades. I will bet that any cleaner will
remove a lot of black film from the blades and quite a bit from the
windshield.

2) Use Rain-X and the Fog (-No-More?).

And I think that you will see a noticeable improvement.

Hope this helps.
