Re: [MV] Highway truck scales

As much as I hate to admit it, I always stop
and pay tolls while driving my mil-vehicles.
I almost always get a funny look from the
collector,though.
I only pulled into a scale once. That was on
Rte. 40 on my way to Aberdeen. As I slowly
drove through, the green arrows pointing to
the highway lit up and I proceeded. I was
driving a M109 w/M105, no markings of any sort,
so I didn't chance blowing by.
I was regularly getting waved on at the gates
to military bases I was going to to get DRMO
purchases I made. I always stopped and told
the guards I am a civilian, look at the tag.
My mil-marked 2-1/2 & 5-tonners are tagged
historical, so I never stop at scales with them.
One time as I was in my civilian, I was monitoring
the CB as I approached the scales. A trucker that
was driving a overloaded rig was planning on
blowing the scales and was really cracking on the
scalemaster. Calling him big and fat, among other
nasty things. As he went by the scales, he noticed the scalemaster standing outside watching him. A big "Oh
Chit" came over the radio from the trucker and I saw
him lighting up his tires stopping to probably back
up and go on the scales. I would't want to be in
his shoes.
