Our chuch is / has sent aid to the affected countries, and it is a good bet
that this aid will not be syphoned off to line someone's pockets; which
seens to happen much too often when govermental assistance is given.
My information is that the Disaster Appeal Committee does a good job.

Subject: Re: [MV] Thoughts of friends.........
Dear Listers,
Over the years, I have made many friends and contacts with mutual interests
(mutts) and several of them are in Thailand and Indonesia.
I e-mailed all of them as soon as I heard about the disaster, thankfully,
several people from both countries have confirmed that they are ok.......but
there are several who haven't responded and others whose servers have
bounced the
mail back as "unable to deliver".
I hope they are all right and that they eventually affirm that they are ok.
I
hope that every one of you, with friends and contacts out there, hear
positive news.
It is heartening to see the World pulling together at this time and as we
all
head off to the shops and stores for those New Year sales and bargains, the
Disaster Appeal Committee will really appreciate that odd dollar or two that
you saved at the sales.
Here's hoping for a happier New Year....
Kind regards....
Ken
