Which is why you can go with halogenated fire
extinguishers that work as well as halon and
better than CO2 but still are entirely gaseous.
Halotron and Energen are two agents.
Energen is a mix of Argon, CO2 and Nitrogen
Halotraon is an environmentally safe three
component chemical blend based on HCFC-123.
CO2 is good, but you need to have a lot of it to
deal with a class A fire. A 20 lb CO2
extinguisher has a 2A rating.
