Just another thought, then I'll leave this alone... When I need something,
or another vehicle (like a hole in the head), I can go to GL or GSA and take
my chances. In the case of parts, I likely could find them cheaper directly
from surplus, but what would I have to buy? Probably a 'lot' or pallet of
stuff. Then sort through and hope what I wanted is really there. Or I can
call one of the good folks on the list, tell'em what I need and I get it.
And it should be correct.

In terms of a vehicle, with a dealer I can inspect and test drive, and
specify exactly what I want. Do whatever is appropriate to make sure I know
what I am getting. And, if a problem turns up most will work with me to make
it right. As an example, talk to Joe Young about his trucks and what he has
done in the past for his customers. Of course, I'll pay Joe (or another
dealer) more but I know what I'm getting and that he stands behind his
product. Try that from GL.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. I'm by no means a professional; just a
collector that has way too many toys.

FWIW...
