don't waste your time trying to save a small amount of labor. when you
have the heads off, if you don't have them resurfaced you are just being
foolish. the old gasket failed for a reason, make sure the engine block
has a TD cast on the side near the data plate. if it doesn't seriously
consider getting another engine. check the liner height and be sure the
block surface is very clean and flat. use the newer style black gaskets.
in other words, just do the job once by doing it right.
