Floyd,
As incredibly strict as New Jersey is with all types of weapons, the
school district and the police department work very closely together to
not only insure student safety, but also to insure student education. I
don't think this type of presentation has been done anywhere else in the
country, which is unfortunate, because there are so many of us that
would be willing to do the same thing that was just done here.
The bottom line is, it takes a lot of pre planning, with everyone from
the janitor to the mayor, the police chief, the State Air Guard, the
school board, etc. Even the Guard has to do get a lot of pre approvals,
including landing permits, flight plans, etc. More importantly, you have
to have willing, and cooperative people on all of these levels to pull
it off. Any snag along the way, at any of these points and the entire
event could have been side tracked.
I can't wait for next year, as each year the classes get larger, and the
event gets larger, too.
