The state of NH was having a Pearl Harbor event at the state house about
7 miles away. I brought the CCKW deuce down and parked it on the side
walk in front of the statehoue and walked in for the food. I was dressed in
my early WW2 uniform; kakis, ww1 style helmet, long bayonette and
dummy M1903 Springfield. I walked all the way through the statehouse,
even stopping to ask directions at the visitors desk. I wound up in the
gov's
office that was crowded with people. I though I was at the back of the room.
As It turned out, I was next to the door when the gov entered! Just before
she entered, a statie walked over to me and inquired about the Springfield
and its status. I showed him that it was a dummy, but he was shocked
that I had not been stopped before arriving in the govs office....
