Well here's some more on the observation. I am pretty sure no water was
getting in the jerry can from rain but it appeared to be a lot of water in
the bottom. I suspect this could have been from a loose cap and the water
in the air here in SC (the word humidity doesn't do that justice) would
condense each night after that solar heat up during the day. HOWEVER, does
gas separate into different components with exposure to heat and cooling.
Something like that happens to my PVC glue when it gets rained on in a
closed can (I use a gallon to two a week). It separates into a solid and a
acetone or something. Can gas do something similar. Your right about no
sun. My lawn mowers and weedeaters don't go bad so fast.
Regardless, I am only putting enough gas in my can to be used in a month or
so. I was afraid to keep the jerry can air tight too because of the sun.
If it doesn't explode in the day it will collapse at night.
I'm glad my deuce is diesel.
