Hi Kenny, and List ,
The easy way to cut your gear shaft is to use
a 1mm slitting disc on a 4½"grinder ! It removes so little metal that
heating is NOT a problem , you just need a steady hand ! If you have to work
round it then take a strip of paper with a straight edge and rap it round
the shaft and secure it with adhesive tape , you now have a true line round
the shaft and both ends of your cut will meet !

When first shown one , I said "waste of time" ----- BUT-----
YES 1mm ------ they are truely amazing ---- so fragile looking but use one
and you`ll wonder how you managed before !
Grinding discs used to cut aluminium plate will clog VERY quickly , these
are so
thin there`s nowhere for them to clog !
I use them on the ali hull of our LARC XV !
Control panel for a genny needed 5 , 4" square holes ! marked out and
cut -------- PERFECT FIT , no filing , drilling or messing !

THEY ARE NOT A GRINDING DISC --- DON`T EVEN TRY !
their only for cutting -- try one -- you`ll not be disappointed !

If you can`t find 1mm , then 1.6mm is almost as good !

                                Good luck Noel
