That is a great site! My reasons for wanting to convert is that the propane
does not require anything special to store it. As far as I know it never
goes bad like gas or diesel does and while it may put out a smaller amount
of power for running my well and most of my inside electrical items it
should do just fine. I have a military 10kw genset that I found is more
like a 20kw due to the power it puts out! I turned on everything in our
house to include the central A/C and it handled the load with a 75% load
showing on the load meter on the genset!! I highly recommend it for
emergency use. Here in upstate South Carolina it's mostly for ice storms
that knock out power for several days at a time. We have a large wood
burning fireplace so heat isn't a problem but having backup power sure is
nice!

I wired it into the main wiring using a double throw, double pole transfer
switch to prevent powering the lines and killing some lineman that thinks
that the line he is about to touch is dead!! Our setup was inspected and
approved by our power company and in fact was shown in one of their monthly
magazines a few years ago. I have a 250 gas tank to fuel it but even though
I use Stabile the gas will still go bad after a couple of years. I have
about 50 gallons right now that is crap. I have to drain it and try to get
it into shape for the mower or something. At the price gas is now I'm not
about to throw it out!

Best Regards,

Ed
