Everette,
This probably won't be much help to you as I don't know if the two vehicles
use different cylinders. When I replaced the brakes on my M38A1 all the
parts, including the slave or wheel cylinders were easily obtainable at the
local auto parts stores. I can't remember which store as I frequented 3 or
4 different ones.
I don't know about the master cylinder as I didn't need to replace it. I'll
bet that if you take one of the wheel cyls. to your local auto parts store
they will either have them in stock or can get them fairly quickly. Just
make sure that you have the original to compare with the replacement as the
books sometimes lie and a lot of the good folks working at the auto parts
store have no idea what they are really looking for. I am pretty sure that
the M38's and M38A1's were listed in the books but have no idea if the
M170's were. Since many of the parts counter folks will not have a clue as
to what you are talking about with these strange "M" vehicles try to tell
them it is for a CJ 3 or CJ 5 Jeep and that will get them started in the
right area. Hopefully.
