The Field cap i was looking for in the past has had an interesting trail, i
have had many people on and off the list give me a dozen names for it, well
this inspired me to find the correct name. the M 1951 olive drab cotton field
cap was intended to be worn in a variety of climates, and under combat
conditions, there was also a winter version with fold down ear flaps, it became

unofficially known as a 'Patrol Cap' by the US Army Rangers of the time,
Chief of stall Gen., Matthew B. Ridgeway began directing forces to improve

there image There for the cap became the target of the 'Smarten up" movement
by Gen. Ridgeway,
This cap so often called by the wrong name is officially the M1951
'RIDGEWAY' Field Cap.
Worn proudly by Elvis, And not so notably by Castro too. Randy out.
