We might want to take this off list if it goes on, however:

"The Maryland sales and use tax rate is 5% on all sales other than certain
short-term passenger car and recreational vehicle rentals on which an 11½%
tax is imposed and certain short-term truck rentals on which an 8% tax is
imposed."

No used property exemption. If it's sold 5 times it's taxed 5 times.

Maryland is a great state to live in geographically, but an incredible tax
hell. The central part of the state is rapidly turning into one enormous
office park with the people all moving to PA, DE, VA and WV. Just look at
the Interstate road pattern.

MV content: I bought my M35A2 in Pennsylvania and had to pay MD sales tax
in order to get tags. And finally, looking at John Tennis' deuce
conversions, MD would likely take the position that the conversion was so
comprehensive that the resulting vehicle was "the creation or completion of
a new or different item" and tax the labor involved. Some of the street rod
conversion shops here have been slammed with huge back tax bills.

Glenn.
