I knew the minute I mentioned this, SOMEBODY would ask for specifics, so
here you go, Bruce, et all! Its subject is: HARD STARTING COLD and is
Chevrolet bulletin 89 - 329 - 6 for those of you can access the GM online
bulletin system. The correct term for the valve is: Housing Pressure Cold
Advance regulator valve assembly GM Part No. 10149645. This REPLACES the
existing ball check regulator valve. I have found a few of these that have
been replaced by the Government so IF yours has a two piece assembly (black
plated valve and brass nipple screwed into it), it's already been modified.
The original is one piece black plated. The other part to be replaced is
the lift pump (lower front curb side of engine). Its GM Part No. is:
25116503 (If you have access to the AC Delco parts system, you can buy the
identical same pump for less $$ under Part No. 43254. Do this one and the
glow plug system O/H and IT will start after sitting for MONTHS (well, okay,
the ambient temperature MIGHT play a bit role here)!!! Happy MVing - -
weak flame shields up! Robert
