If I recall correctly from my Seabee days, the LAW rocket fires a 77mm HEAT
(High Energy Anti Tank) rocket; I am unsure even as a devoted WWII buff if
this is what a rifle grenade ever was.. although I am relatively sure that
they were not 'shaped charges'. I do specifically recall both in training at
the range, and repeatedly prior to leaving for the Persian Gulf, being told
by the instructors: "Guys, DON'T shoot this weapon at tanks, it will only
piss them off really bad and give away your position to them."
