I always thought, but don't have anything official, that all MB/GPWs were rated
to tow the 57mm. I know I have seen pictures of that combination more than
once. Doesn't sound right to me.

** High Priority **

Have you ever heard of the US Army reengining of 1942 Ford GPWs
with a inline six engine from a Weasel? The purported reason for the
conversion was to allow for the towing of a 57mm anti-tank gun. I know
of a jeep with this type of conversion, however, I have no evidence it
was indeed performed by an Army Depot as claimed by the owner. If
you know of such a conversion, directed by the Army, please let me
know. The current owner claims another example is in the Ordnance
Museum. Has anyone seen it? If this conversion was a sanctioned
Army progrm, this has the potential to be a rare (and hence valuable)
vehicle. If not, the extensive modifications will be difficult to reverse.
