Just sold my LARC 5 (chassis #97) Rod, otherwsie I would have some
technical questions for you. Buying Dodges instead as Cummins units
that size frighten my bank manager.

PS it went to do some work, but a good home, honest.

Hello Gordon,
I can understand your bank managers shock at the idea of paying for
rebuilds etc on the LARC V Cummins engine. The main problem with them is
that they were only built for the military in that model and so parts are
not easily available from Cummins dealers. But if you ever know of anyone
who wants to know about LARC V repairs, please send them to me. If I cannot
help, I can contact any number of ex Aust Army tradesmen who could.
By the way, I believe that the Army has finally sold off the last of the
LARCs over here. I don't know who bought them all but will find out. There
are a couple in the hands of the Queensland State Emergency Service I
believe for flood relief work. Maybe some of the list members in Queensland
can confirm that.
Personally, I didn't particularly like working on the LARCs. My specialty
and preference was LCM8 landing craft. I always believed that four 6/71
Detroits were better than one Cummins.
Cheers
