I have recieved several messages regarding my posting about jeep
judging. First I would like to say that I did not enter my jeep in the
factory class, I entered it in the motor pool ready class. Second, in
the interest of safety the first thing I installed in my restored jeep
were seatbelts. Third, I agree that the use of some NOS parts such as
engine parts is foolhardy and asking for a breakdown. The use of any
NOS rubber parts, gaskets, and other items in somecases is dangerous. I
have put approximatly 1000 miles on my jeep in the five months since I
finished it and you do have to make sacrifices for the sake of
safety/vehicle. One of the first things I did was install a set of
early WARN freewheeling hubs on the frontend to take the strain off of
the drivetrain. Original? no. But it's better for the vehicle. No
modifications were required to do this. I don't want people to think
that I do not drive my jeep because I don't want to put wear on my NOS
parts, quite the contrary, I enjoy driving my jeep very much. That is
the final reward. Do I criticize those who chose not to restore their
jeep to factory standards? No, I respect their decision and enjoy their
company as a fellow MV enthusiast. By the way I would like to thank all
of you who subscribe to this E-mail string. We have something very
special here, alot of my antique car restoration friends are envious of
the fact that we can e-mail a question or problem to mil-veh and in a
day or so have many solutions or answers, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
