Hello
Last summer I replaced the differential on the front of my 42
carryall. I replaced a lighter duty, smaller, gear set with a heavy duty
set, larger ring gear. Both gears were stamped with the same gear ratio.
The new gears bolted easily into the original housing although the bolts
were smaller, and the cover on the other side had to be replaced along with
it. Although the axles went back together easily, what I am wondering if
there is any difference in where the axles are possitioned, centered in the
housing? If there is a difference could this cause abnormal wear. I read
somewhere that 3 gaskets were used in some situations. Anybody know when
this would be necessary?
Thanks for the help.
