Saw what looked like a brand new Jeep engine block at Beltring this
weekend, and if you add that to all the other reporduction parts now
available you should now be able to make an MB or GPW with no
'original' parts at all (come to think of it no-one is making new axle
casings?) I'm fortunate enough to be able to find NOS just about
anything for the Dodges and the DUKW, and they have just enough
modifications to make them road legal / safe (turn signals, brake
lights)
If I ever do get around to rebuilding the GPA hulk lurking if the
corner I know that I'll have to use repro stuff for just about
everything, right down to cutting up a GPW chassis to rebuild the
original. Most of the other GPAs I've seen have been heavily restored
especially the hull sheet metal. Sometimes if you want a usable
vehicle you have to accept new metal - but I'm not planning on buying
alloy wheels for it. Gordon, Falkirk, Scotland 8-)
