Hello again David, British army Jeeps were used straight from the
crates or ships in the US paint - many early ones apparently still had
US shipment markings, later UK assembled from knock-down (there was an
assembly operation here in Falkirk for Jeeps, GMCs and CMPs) were just
screwed together and touched up before use.

Post war British-use vehicles sometimes had British standard semi-gloss
or gloss olive, plus Butler lights on the fenders and rhs wing mirrors.
Any US vehicle shipped through the UK 1940-44 had 'Caution - left hand
drive' somewhere on the right rear, though 44-on vehicles shipped
direct to Europe did not have. Gordon 8-)
