Is this the same compass referred to as a hull compass? I've seen
pictures of them in Jeep, Scout Cars and half-tracks too.

I have recently located a NIB Sherrel Compass. I have seen several of
these inside M8 armored cars and other WW2 armored cars. It is still in
box and is complete with all bolts for mounting in a little bag and a
few other items. I have seen several of them both with the liquid and
without, I have heard both that they came with it and also I have heard
that it is supposed to be added in field by the user. Can the liquid be
added, or is it a lost cause, also what type of liquid is supposed to
be? The one I found is unopened and there is no liquid in it, the box
does not appear to have any stain that might of been caused by the
liquid leaking, please let me know if it is correct and how fill it with
the proper liquid. Thanks and look forward to getting a reply.
