Colin,

Was the old propensity radial aircraft engines had of shedding cylinders
(once you were safely out of gliding range of any airstrip) shared with
radial tank engines? Just curious.

Also, just read a little about the Ordnance RD1820 radial diesel in the M4A6
Sherman... 1823ci, 450hp @ 2000rpm, 1470ft-lb torque @ 1200rpm, 3536 lb dry
weight. Interesting concept... ALSO, heard about an experimental Chrysler
v-12 liquid-cooled engine (the A65), which developed a respectable 650hp
from 1568ci. Anyone know anything about these engines? Seems the Sherman
sure could have used about any perk they could have given it...
