The MB engine in our M201 had a similar problem. The crack only showed at
operating temperature and magnaflux didn't show it so we couldn't try a
conventional fix like plugging or welding and remachining. The shop sent the
block out and had it ceramic sealed and it's been fine ever since. I don't
know who did the sealing work or if it would work in your case. A good engine
shop should be able to provide options, consult with the experts. Racing
engine folks (some) are very good at saving things you normally would scrap,
maybe one of them could help.
