I don't see how this could improve the lubrication. It seems that plugging
the line would possible serve to limit lubrication of the timing chain/gear.
If I remember correctly, the outlet from the block goes to the filter
cannister and the outlet from the cannister goes to the timing cover.

Obviously, the engine can operate without this set-up, evidenced by the
number of jeeps I've seen with the entire system removed and the filter
inlet and outlets plugged.

As for the filter, some filtration is better than none. I just don't see how
this could improve lubrication enough to warrant the decrease protection
of having a filter in the system.

I read in All American Wonder that the original oil filter actually prevented
proper lubrication of the first cylinder. It was recommended that the oil
filter was removed and the oil line was plugged with a steel ball from a
ball bearing. The engine would still look the same.

Does anyone have any experience on this subject?
