We had a discussion a while back regarding the hauling of dead 2 1/2 ton
6x6 trucks and the methods available to do so. I have another question
this time pertaining to hauling even larger trucks.
The M54 5 Ton 6x6 truck and the other related tractors are of course
larger than a 2 1/2 ton truck and obviously weigh more than a 6x6. Othe=
r
than the increased weight, and possibly increased height are there any
other problems with hauling a truck of this size on a large gooseneck
trailer, such as a 10 ton, dual tandem trailer. I know that semi tractor=
s
often times have a 5th wheel hitch that does not move from side to side s=
o
that an attached trailer will be stabilized by the attached semi tractor.=
=
Obviously with a gooseneck ball connection that increased stability facto=
r
will not exist since a gooseneck hitch allows side to side movement. I'm=
getting concerned about the high center of gravity of an M54 type vehicle=
on a gooseneck flatbed trailer.
Has anyone every hauled a vehicle such as an M54 or a conventional semi
tractor on a gooseneck trailer before?
