[MV] M151 Transmission

Can anybody in the group help me with the transmission and transfer case =
on the M151A2? I have the engine out to replace the clutch and cracked =
open the tranny and found oil that has the color of coffee with cream =
and the viscosity of cheap cough syrup! This does not look right. =
Needless to say, it will be replaced. But does the transfer case share =
that oil, or is it separate? And what would have caused the oil to look =
like this? Examination of the gears does not show any broken or missing =
teeth, not a lot of excessive wear. Are there any tranny tips out =
there, while I got the thing open on the floor?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
