Large sharp drill with a moderate amount of force and you should be OK.
If you are installing plugs or threaded connections look for a thick
section to drill through, give the threads plenty to grip. Do not
overtighten threaded connections, etc. If they do strip use a
'helicoil' insert or similar (great for cylinder head and manifold
studs, they even do a special kit for stripped spark plug holes)
Remember cast iron is strong in compression, lousy in tension, and
doesn't like torsion or shear all that much. Gordon
